Windfire Yoga Retreat Teaching Method
Windfire Yoga Retreats utilise the Dynamic Yoga Training Method. This method is based on the inherent integrity of body, mind and spirit. A unity (yoga) accessed through simplicity and consistency of action. By giving priority to biomechanical integrity the deeper relationships between body, mind and spirit are invited to express themselves. Then you are able to focus your attention directly on the actions you need to take and feel clearly the impacts they are having. This gives the postures a power, and a spiritual dimension, that they cannot have if they are simply described, or used to develop flexibility, strength or stamina.
The Dynamic Yoga Teaching Method is based entirely on the mechanical, physiological and cognitive principles that govern human experience. These principles are accessed and utilised through the agency of sensitivity to sensations actually taking place inside the body, and honest awareness of the dynamics of perception. This renders yoga practice a process of unlearning culutural impositions that mask and distort the integrity of nature.
Our Yoga Retreats reveal the deep simplicity of yoga practice that renders it so effective. Body, Mind and Spirit are integrated on the unfiying dynamic of the bandhas: Sarvangabandha. This is the unification of Mulabandha, Uddiyanabandha and Jalandharabandha with Hastabandha and Padabandha.
Sarvangabandha is neither esoteric, nor arbitrary: it is nothing other than response of the human body in action to gravity. It integrates the body functionally, structurally and energetically, while reuniting mind and body in the light of a unified awareness. This unity is the dynamic expression of yoga. It clarifies the inherent unities of body and mind, matter and spirit, within which the body itself becomes a vessel of spiritual illumination. This is the focus of our training method, which leaves you free to practice with integrity in any style you like.
