Cas'emalbon is an old farmstead perched high in a national park with stunning views to south and west. our neighbours are wild boar, wolves, deer, porcupine, foxes, hares and rabbits, but they keep themselves to themselves in summertime.

In a setting as natural as you can find, the silence and the strong, nourishing breath of nature are as palpable as they are welcome. surrounded by oak, beech and maple trees the house is fed by natural springs that run on either side of the property.

 

Be ready to be tempted by walks that can extend through unspoiled natural forest and mountainside for miles and miles, and even days, with barely a sign of 'civilisation'. although there is a small village a 15 minute walk south of us it is very sleepy and offers only a bar and simple family run restaurant (delicious home made pasta) which is reached through their living room. to indulge further in 'civilised' temptations you will have to take a bus to badia prataglia or further still to bibbiena. a slightly longer, but easier walk to the east will bring you to Biforco where there is a post office (only open a few hours a week) and a social club with a library and bar.
