Our advanced yoga retreat classes provide you with a rare opportunity to enrich your yoga practice. All these courses do not take place every year.
THE DYNAMIC YOGA DEPTH INTENSIVE provides a deep exploration of the dynamics of the yoga method. This takes place both in practice and underlying theory of the body, mind and yoga. We will explore in depth the arts of movement, stillness, integration, breathing attentiveness and breathing in over 200 yoga techniques (ullola, vinyasa, asana, bandha, pranayama, samyama). They will be pracyiced and explored in linked groups that clarify their shared dunamics and revela their inherent relationships. Find more details. This course is open to anyone wishing to go deep into the biomechanical dynamics of the body.
ADVANCED RETREAT will make a deep, focussed exploration of yje subteltires of yoga posture, pranayama and meditation practice. The guided morning sessions will use technqiues and posture sequences (viyasa) designed to focus and clarify one or more of the deeper subtleties of the yoga method: inviting you to new depths, insights and revelations. Evening sessions will be more interactive and offfer you the opportunity to focus on your own interests and concerns. This course is open to anyone ready tofind the depths of yoga in subtlety rather than capability: you do not have to have an 'advanced' practice in terms of flexibility, strength or stamina.
SOLO RETREAT is open to anyone who has a self practice in any style. Monday to Friday mornings there is an unassisted self practice session ending savasan: after which there is a guided pranayama and meditation followed by an group exploration ofthe subtelties of yoga practice. Afternoon sessions sunday, tuesday and thursday are for guided exploration of any aspect of yoga practice. Participants are free to use the yogasala for their own practice at all other times.
THE PRANAYAMA INTENSIVE is based directly on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras: treating Pranayama as a means of enquiry rather than a formulated method. The course includes yoga posture classes focusiing on the role of pranayama in asana. This course is open to anyone: there are no prerequisites.
THE MEDITATION INTENSIVE is open to anyone: there are no prerequisites. There will be one yoga self practice session each day.
THE ADVANCED INTENSIVE provides a two week indepth practical and theoretical exploration of over 100 advanced yoga techniques. This course is suitable for any yoga practitioner with an intermediate or advanced practice who wants to base the deepening of their practice on fertile principles of integrity.
